Welcome to the laboratory of the Game Production Alchemist. Opinionated writing on production, agentic AI application and leadership in games.
Most game studios fail. The ones that survive tend to share a quiet competence at production. Three decades on the floor have shown me the pattern is consistent enough to deserve a newsletter. This is that newsletter.
What you get
Two essays a week, Mondays and Wednesdays, UK time. First-person prose by someone who has been producing games for thirty years and is still learning. No listicles, no motivational filler.
Topics rotate across production strategy in F2P mobile and co-dev, Kanban and flow metrics, probabilistic forecasting, agentic AI workflows for game producers, and the parts of studio leadership that nobody actually teaches you.
Where to start
Four kinds of posts live here. Pick by what brought you in.
One: How-To’s. Practical guides for working producers, step-by-step writing on the parts of the craft that get muddled in practice.
Two: Opinions. The contrarian takes and the arguments worth having.
Three: Solutions. Specific problems with worked-through answers, the “I have this exact issue at my studio” post type.
4: Deep Dives. Long-form arguments where the topic earns the length.
Who this is for
Working producers, leads and studio heads in F2P mobile, co-dev and indie. Anyone who cares about the craft of production, including the AI tooling now reshaping it.
This is not the right newsletter if you want hot takes on game releases or AI hype without the production discipline to back it up.
About me
Thirty years shipping games across mobile, console, PC, VR and web. Award-winning AAA, top-grossing apps that earned billions, plenty of Walmart shovel-ware, plenty of cancelled projects. Every one of them taught me something. The full version, including the secret laboratory in the Chiltern Hills and the annual pilgrimage to Black Rock City, lives on the About page.

What an AWESOME welcome page!! You really lead the reader through all the things they might ask as a visitor to your page. 👏
